"I wonder how many people think your blog is awful?"
I was just looking back through some things I'd written and found this profound question posed by my incredibly supportive daughter some time ago.
I guess this is not so much a Weird Kid Wednesday. Do I need to start a Smart Ass Saturday?
(Though, really, in her defense I vaguely remember that the context of our conversation was the fact that not everyone has the same taste in everything. And she followed it up with this statement.)
First, what room is that? One of yours? Another project? Joey looks like she's looking into a webcan!
ReplyDeleteSecond, I know I find a lot of blogs that are not in my taste, so if I don't like it I just don't go back. So I'm assuming that a lot of people visit me (another grandkid post - how boring!) or you (spaghetti in a muffin pan?), so they, too, just move on down the line.
But Joey poses a thought provoking question, because we like to think that everyone would be interested in what WE have to say! But I'd like to hear a critique of what those people who walk away have to say. (I think)
Smart Ass Saturday? I like it!
That's Kenzie's room, the one you guys stayed in when you visited. For the last month or so I've been working on an extended project in there. Hopefully, I'll have some of it posted soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that her question is a valid one. One that I consider occasionally, but try not to obsess too much about.
My tutorials are a good example. I've gotten two emails lately from people who were confused by my grocery bag tutorial. I know most people love it and have no problem with it, but I also know that plenty of people have a hard time following written directions, even if there are a ton of pictures. So I'll be working on creating some videos to show the process in real time.
There's always room for improvement, but you also can't be living for everyone else's opinion. I like my blog just fine, and that's good enough.
Also, I'm sure I have plenty of material to start a Smart Ass Saturday.
Smart Ass Saturday just includes Joey, right? Cause I'm more of a dumbass than a smartass.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you think she gets it?
ReplyDeleteCertainly not from me.
Don't you just love the way kids put things?!
ReplyDeletewell I like your blog........
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
Now THAT is funny!
ReplyDeleteI've never really given thought to what if someone doesn't like my blog. I would assume they don't come back ;-). *I* like my blog and a few other people do too, so that's good enough for me.
I'm one of those people who struggle with crafting/sewing project instructions that are written + pictures / drawings. It's frustrating, for sure, because there are some fabulous crafting and sewing books and tutorials out there that are Greek to me. But a video tutorial pretty much works every time. That's really cool that you're willing to do the video tutorials after having already done them in photo form.
I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteand the pizza idea is adorable.
